The Reason
Sometimes you just need a smaller Band.
Funkee Butt (named after a bar in New Orleans) was created by Reverend Funk & The Horns of Salvation and The Swing Sensation Big Band. An act designed to cater for jobs where a showband is definitely the preferred entertainment, but perhaps just a touch out of reach. The repertoire includes everything from Swing & Jazz, Funky Soul, Disco & Pop. It’s a crossover effect, and the proof is in the pudding! From 3 to 7 piece, Funkee Butt provides everything you’d expect from a New Orleans styled live act.
The Brew
Take the 3-4 Rhythm guys who have toured with some of the biggest names in Aussie pop, sift lightly and throw in a good chunk of Frontman with an edge, heat slowly and stir in a saxophone and/or trumpet. If preferred, add a sprinkle of female vocal for taste and you have what they call in New Orleans a ‘Roux’ (roo). It’s up to you to provide the seafood, vegies and sausage (event / venue / guests), mix it all together and you have funky Gumbo like ‘no-body’s business. A superb mix of tunes, a packed dance floor, maybe a fun cameo number by one of your guests, and it’s all ‘Desitivley Bonneroo’ (“the best” in Louisiana speak)

What’s a Jazz band without a ‘Blue Moon’ a ‘Moondance’ or a ‘Funny Valentine’?
What’s a Dance band without shakin’ a ‘Tailfeather’ or a bit of ‘Funky Music White Boy ’?
What’s a Funk band without a little ‘Kiss’ and some ‘Superstition’?
What’s a Soul band without that ‘Midnight Hour’ and just a little ‘Respect’?
We don’t know……. so if it’s ok with you, we’ll play the music your guests know and love.
We avoid top 40 radio guitar grunge tunes and we don’t know any plastic candy pop. Our sound is authentic, live and real. If you want entertainment that is not stale/boring function band music, then Funkee Butt could well be the “critter bitin’ on the end o’ yo’ fishin’ pole!!”
